I have been trying to put the pictures up for the last two and a half hours now. They are on Katie's photobucket but we must sleep (its after midnight and we are getting sick). We will get them posted tomorrow sometime. Sorry for the delay...
So, some questions, per the request, because I don't know hardly anything about this trip. 1. When do you head back state side? 2. Why did you decide to go where you did, when you did (why in winter during summer break?) 3. How much stuff do you have to haul with you when you go to a new place? 4. What's the currency like? and do you use it much or mostly debit card transactions. 5. Strangest food experience. 6. Would either of you have taken this trip by yourself, or is this only a power in numbers trip? I'm sure I'll come up with more as the time comes, and feel free to send a postcard my way.
1. We head back to the states August 7th. So we can make it to Katie's friends wedding!!
2. I went to Peru over christmas break. So we had this crazy idea of going and doing all of S. America. then we realized that was too crazy and we met with a friend and narrowed it down to a few countries.
3. We took enough clothes for about 2 weeks and a mixture of warm and cold stuff. So basically layers. And books. And shower stuff. About 40 pounds worth of clothes/extras per person. But in a backpacking bag, it doesn't feel that heavy!!
4. The currency varies from country to country. Chile sucks, 100 dollars is like 41,000 pesos. But Argentina isn't so bad, just divide the amount of Pesos by three, and it's about what is in the States. But we don't know about Bolivia yet...
5. The first hostel made us this reallllly spicy dish with raw fish. It was good, but weird.
6. Power in numbers is great... but better with a guy. It's just hard with the male machismo in S. America. And it's a LOT less stressful with at least one more person.
